Learn to dive

So you have always fancied exploring the wrecks and reefs around Britain’s coast. Or you have seen some great footage of the barrier reef. Or you just fancy a challenge. Well learning to dive is thankfully quite straight forward.

Try Dive

The first step is to come and have a try-a-dive.

You’ll never forget the first time you breathe underwater.

What Do You Need?

Just you, a T-shirt & your swimwear and we’ll provide the rest of the scuba equipment you’ll need.

What’s Involved?

Your “Try-A-Dive” session will involve a pre dive briefing to familiarise yourself with the equipment and signals we use in diving. You will then receive a one-to-one try dive with one of our experienced and fully trained divers. Afterwards there will be a de-brief and the opportunity to talk to current members and for those who are interested we can enroll you to BSAC and the Huddersfield sub-aqua club.

The whole experience takes approximately 1 hour and is available every Monday* evening (except bank holidays and school holidays) at the New Huddersfield Leisure Centre, Spring Grove car park, from 8.30 pm until 9.30 pm.

Learning to Dive

If after having a try dive you want to learn to dive you can join the club. As a member of the club all training is provided free (with the exception of course materials). From beginner to experienced diver BSAC provides a full training programme that enables divers to progress through a framework of qualifications at their own pace. Training is usually through a mixture of Theory Lessons, Practical Pool Lessons followed by Practical Open Water Lessons.

Because we are a club all training is provided by experienced members of the club who have qualified as BSAC Instructors. We also arrange the training around you. So instead of doing all the lessons in one weekend we do them over a number sessions. This means that we are with you until you pass and beyond. Some people learn more quickley than others but as long as you are a member of the club we will be there with you.
